Geometric Cone Surfaces and (2+1) - Gravity coupled to Particles

چکیده
We introduce the (2+1)-spacetimes with compact space of genus g ≥ 0 and r gravitating particles which arise by Minkowskian suspensions of flat or hyperbolic cone surfaces, by distinguished deformations of hyperbolic suspensions and by patchworking of suspensions. Similarly to the matter-free case, these spacetimes have nice properties with respect to the canonical Cosmological Time Function. When the values of the masses are sufficiently large and the cone points are suitably spaced, the distinguished deformations of hyperbolic suspensions determine a relevant open subset of the full parameter space; this open subset is homeomorphic to U × R, where U is a non empty open set of the Teichmüller Space T r g . By patchworking of suspensions one can produce examples of spacetimes which are not distinguished deformations of any hyperbolic suspensions, although they have the same masses; in fact, we will guess that they belong to different connected components of the parameter space.

Extrinsic Curvature Induced 2-d Gravity
2-dimensional fermions are coupled to extrinsic geometry of a conformally immersed surface in R through gauge coupling. By integrating out the fermions, we obtain a WZNW action involving extrinsic curvature of the surface. Restricting the resulting effective action to surfaces of h √ g = 1, an explicit form of the action invariant under Virasaro symmetry is obtained. This action is a sum of the...

We review the recently proposed light-cone quantization of the matrix model which is expected to have a critical point describing 2-d quantum gravity coupled to c = 2 matter. In the N → ∞ limit, we derive a linear Schroedinger equation for the free string spectrum. Numerical study of this equation suggests that the spectrum is tachyonic, and that the string tension diverges at the critical poin...

A new formulation of c ≤ 1 matter coupled to 2D gravity is proposed. This model, being closely analogous to one in the Polyakov light-cone gauge, possesses well defined global properties which allow to calculate correlation functions. As an example, the three point correlation functions of discrete states are found. LANDAU-96-TMP-1 hep-th/9601026 Since the seminal works of Polyakov, Knizhnik an...

We analyze two models of random geometries : planar hyper-cubic random surfaces and four dimensional simplicial quantum gravity. We show for the hyper-cubic random surface model that a geometrical constraint does not change the critical properties of the model compared to the model without this constraint. We analyze the phase diagram for the model with extrinsic curvature. For four dimensional...
متن کاملSemiclassical Quantization of Two-Dimensional Dilaton Gravity
Quantization of the dilaton gravity in two dimensions is discussed by a semiclassical approximation. We compute the fixed-area partition function to one-loop order and obtain the string susceptibility on Riemann surfaces of arbitrary genus. Our result is consistent with the approach using techniques of conformal field theories. A two-dimensional metric-dilaton system coupled to matter fields (d...
